Process Modernization | Operating Procedure Standardization


Background: 

A family owned construction business, faced rapid growth that outpaced the capacity and functional limitations of their employee operations function. With an increasing employee base, a decision was made to modernize the HR function with new technology and a fresh operating model.


Solution: 

We were tasked with leading the new vision for the department and implementing necessary changes without impacting day-to-day operations. Our approach included:

  • Team Restructuring: We reorganized the personnel team into functional pillars led by experts in Payroll, Benefits, and Employee Engagement. This provided clearly defined roles for the team, who had previously been generalists.
  • Digitization Initiative: We launched a comprehensive digitization project to convert fifty years' worth of personnel data from paper-based records to an online system. This included creating an employee self-service portal.
  • System Implementation: We implemented a modern IT system to consolidate the company's outdated payroll, accounting, and timecard management systems, streamlining processes and enhancing efficiency.


The re-imagined processes and new systems resulted in a modernized Human Resources function that could effectively support the company's growth. 

INDUSTRIAL TO COMMERCIAL BUILD OUT

Background: 

A local non-profit church acquired an industrial property to establish a permanent home. We initiated a comprehensive project to transform the interior into a modern, welcoming, and inspiring space where the congregation could gather, worship, and build community.


Solution: 

We were entrusted with the comprehensive coordination of a significant fit-out project for a local church. 

  • Represented the church leadership in selecting and overseeing both the construction management and architectural firms responsible for executing the work. 
  • Focused on precision and accountability to ensure the project remained within the tight budget and met all deadlines.
  • Mitigated risks and issues with minimal impact to the church's operations.
  • Provided strategic guidance to the church's leadership team, helping them prioritize, adjust, and reimagine their needs to maximize the value of their limited resources. 


The church is now thriving in a future-proof building, making a lasting impact on the local community.

OFFICE BUILD-OUT

Project Management | Budget Management


Background: 

This Montreal based retailer was experiencing rapid growth but was situated in a declining area of town. A strategic decision was made to relocate operations to a historic building in the old town, transforming it into a premium office experience for employees and wholesale customers.


Solution: 

We spearheaded the end-to-end execution of this project. This included:

  • Budget Oversight: Controlling spend and mitigating financial risks
  • Contract Negotiations: Leading lease and construction contract negotiations to secure favorable terms.
  • Coordination and Supervision: Overseeing site coordination, supervision, and risk management throughout the project.


In parallel, we led the change management work-stream, which involved:

  • Employee Preparation: Organizing move logistics and preparing employees for changes in their commute and new ways of working.
  • Engagement and Training: Ensuring that employees were well-informed and comfortable with the transition through engagement activities and training programs.
